  1. Check the Weather Forecast: Summer in Tennessee can be hot and humid, so keep an eye on the weather forecast leading up to your big day. Consider scheduling your ceremony during the cooler morning or evening hours to beat the heat.

  2. Pick a water activity! - This season is all about having fun so why not add more fun to your elopement day with a water activity. This can be like choosing a waterfall as a first or second location or if you like kayaking, canoeing, fishing or paddling this is the perfect time to do it!

  3. Dress for the Occasion: Choose attire that suits both the setting and the season. Lightweight fabrics and breathable designs are ideal for summer elopements, ensuring you stay comfortable and stylish throughout the day.

  4. Bug spray is a must - This season can be really buggy, that’s why it is important to bring bug spray to avoid getting eaten by them!

5. Busy season - Summer is one of the most popular seasons in Tennessee, there are ways to avoid the crowds if you are looking for something more secluded. I’ll definitely recommend hiring a local photographer who can help you to find other cool options where you can tie the knot without many folks around. I'll be happy to help you!

6. Stay Hydrated: With the summer heat in full swing, it's essential to stay hydrated, especially if you're spending time outdoors. Make sure to have plenty of water on hand for you and your partner, as well as any guests attending your ceremony.

7. Plan for Permits: If you're eloping in a public park or natural area, check if you need a permit for your ceremony. If you’re planning a summer elopement it is better if you get your permit with at least 3 weeks in advance to ensure your spot!

8. Plan a Post-Ceremony Celebration: After you exchange vows, why not plan a romantic dinner for two at a local restaurant or arrange a private picnic in a scenic spot? It's a wonderful way to continue the celebration and create lasting memories together.

9. Add Personal Touches: Even though your elopement may be small in scale, you can still incorporate personal touches to make it feel uniquely yours. Whether it's handwritten vows, meaningful music, or a special unity ceremony. What about cutting a cake or eating donuts?

10. Choose the Perfect Location: Tennessee is full of stunning locations for your elopement, from the Great Smoky Mountains to stunning waterfalls. Pick a spot that fits with your needs!

I recommend picking a waterfall that are more shady than an open field, this can be also as a second location!
