Considerations for Eloping at Roan Mountain

• If you’re planning to have your ceremony inside the state park at one of their designated locations, you’ll need to request a permit.

• If you’re thinking about doing your ceremony up in the highlands of Roan Mountain, you’ll want to keep your group size small. A permit might not be required in some areas, but it’s usually best for just the two of you or a small group (around 8 people or fewer).

• The season also matters a lot in this area. March through November is typically great, but winters in the higher elevations can be a bit rough — sometimes you’ll even find snow. It’s totally doable, you just have to be prepared for the weather and colder temps.

• Some spots are super accessible but for the mountain top elopement vibe then you might need to hike a bit, the hike is short and easy but everything depends on how used to hike you are.
