Best Locations for a Spring Elopement in Tennessee

Roan Mountain State Park

Known for its expansive rhododendron gardens, Roan Mountain is a spectacular destination for springtime elopements. The rhododendrons typically bloom from late May to early June, covering the mountain slopes in blankets of pink and purple blooms.

I love to go to Roan Mountain because you can get quiet time and the seclusion that you are looking to exchange your vows. The hike to my favorite spot is around 20 min and the views are gorgeous! Bring a blanket to enjoy a picnic time because trust me you will want to spend more time in this beautiful meadow. If you are coming out of state this location is just 2 hours from Knoxville Airport and they have cabins where you can stay.

Permit: You don’t need a permit if you are planning to be just the two of you or up to 8 people.

Cades Cove

Cades Cove is like a nature wonderland, especially in the springtime! It’s one of the most popular spots to Elope at The Smoky Mountains. That’s why I recommend eloping at spring time in this location because the busy season is just starting so you wont have many folks around. imagine wide open fields filled with bright green grass and colorful flowers popping up everywhere. Plus, you've got these big, majestic mountains all around you, making it the perfect spot to exchange your vows.

And let's not forget about the wildlife! You might spot some deer or even a black bear roaming around. Just be sure to keep a safe distance and enjoy the natural charm they add to your elopement experience.This is just 1.5 hr drive from Gatlinburg and there are other cool near locations that you can add to your elopement day.

Max Patch

This location is right on the border of Tennessee and North Carolina but I wanted to include Max Patch in this list because Max Patch is an incredible spot for a springtime elopement! Picture this: a big, open grassy area perched right on top of a mountain. It's like having your own private paradise with panoramic views all around.

What makes Max Patch so perfect for spring elopements? Well, for starters, the weather is just right. It's not too hot or too cold, so you can enjoy your ceremony without worrying about being uncomfortable.

And let's talk about those views! From Max Patch, you can see for miles in every direction. Rolling hills, blooming wildflowers, and endless blue skies stretch out before you, creating a picture-perfect backdrop for your special day. Here you will have a little bit of both states. It's just 1.5hr from Knoxville, TN or Asheville, NC so you pick where you would like to stay!

Elope next to a Waterfall

There are tons of stunning waterfalls in Tennessee that I couldn't just name one! Spring is the best time to chase waterfalls. Those are flowing so nicely though that you will love being there to exchange your vows. Those spring showers make them flow so nicely, keep in mind to bring extra clothes and the right footwear for those rocky areas. This is perfect for those couples that don't mind getting wet and get dirty clothes at the end!

Snooper’s Rock

Located in Chattanooga, this scenic overlook is an ideal choice for your spring elopement, and here's why! Firstly, let's talk about that view—it's simply breathtaking! Overlooking the Tennessee River Gorge, you'll be treated to stunning vistas without the need for a challenging hike. Access is a breeze—a short gravel road followed by a quick 2-minute stroll, and you're there!
